This is fun on wheels. You are looking at a Harlequin tribute car. This carefully painted VW Golf pays homage to the 1996 VW original. Back in 1996 VW cranked out 264 multicolored VW Golfs for the US as a promotional effort and now they are a cult sensation. There is even a Harlequin registry for the VW's wearing the multicolored livery. This 2011 two door hatch back Golf features a 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. The rims (painted to match) are upgrades from a GTI model as is the front grille. The match set of Perelli tires are fat with tread. The brakes were recently replaced as were wheel bearings. The headliner is also new. This car shifts, drives and feels fun just like its custom paint job. Driving this car makes you happy. It makes you the center of conversation. The combination of Pistachio Green, Ginster Yellow, Tornado Red and Chagall Blue draw more attention than you can imagine. Passersby always honk and waive when they see this cheery little VW. Stop for gas and plan to talk it up with the folks at the pump next to you. You can tell them the story of how the Harlequin colors originated from a print ad VW ran way back in the 60's. Or next time you pull in to Wal Mart be ready to spin a yarn about how VW President Ferdinand Piech was actually the man behind the brilliant color scheme. If you spent a quarter million dollars on a new Lamborghini or Ferrari you would not get chatted up half as much as you will owning this car. It is a stand out for sure, but because its a VW Golf its approachable. So if you just need a reliable car this is probably overkill.
